What people have had to say…
Septic Kidney stones
Dr Ramsamy was the worst experience of my life.
I would like to take this opportunity
I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere appreciation and respect for Dr. Ramsamy of Olivedale Hospital, whose experience, honesty, and dedication played a vital role in my recovery-and quite possibly in saving my life.
Dr. Ramsamy is clearly a highly talented and experienced physician. Throughout my time in hospital, he demonstrated not only deep medical knowledge, but also the kind of candid, no-nonsense approach that comes from years of managing complex and challenging cases. Even when I resisted his professional advice—particularly around being discharged—he stood his ground with confidence and care, explaining clearly why following proper medical process was essential for my long-term recovery.
Looking back, it would have been a serious mistake to disregard his counsel. His ability to remain calm and focused while guiding me through that critical moment was a testament to both his professionalism and his compassion. I now understand that his decisions were rooted in wisdom, experience, and a sincere commitment to my wellbeing. I am quite certain that had I continued to push back, I would have put myself at significant risk. For that reason, my gratitude to him-and that of my family-is deep
and enduring. I also want to take this opportunity to formally apologise for my belligerent behaviour during that time.
In hindsight, I was acting from a place of fear and anxiety, not from logic or trust in the process. Dr. Ramsamy showed incredible patience and professionalism in the face of my resistance, and i deeply regret not recognising sooner that I was in the hands of someone who had my best interests at heart.
Thanks in no small part to Dr. Ramsamy’s steady hand, I have the chance to enjoy many more years with my wife and family. That is a gift I will never take for granted. Please consider this letter not only as a note of appreciation, but as a sincere recognition of the skill, dedication, and humanity that Dr. Ramsamy brings to his practice. I am truly grateful. With heartfelt thanks.

Worst experience of my life
Dr Ramsamy treated my father...
Dr Ramsamy treated my father on an inpatient basis over the course of a few months towards the end of 2023. My father, 87, has suffered from Parkinson’s disease for many years and had recently started contracting urinary tract infections.
He was eventually admitted to the Morningside Medi Clinic in Sandton, South Africa where imagine revealed some kidney stones and calcification in his urinary tract. Given his advanced age and medical history, it was not an easy decision to decide on whether an operation was indicated and warranted. Dr Ramsamy spent a good deal of time discussing the matter, the various possible outcomes and longer-term prognosis with my mother and I in great detail.
There certainly were other doctors around that suggested it would be better for nature to takes its course. Dr Ramsamy relied on my father and my own sentiment that he would withstand the procedure and regain a reasonable quality of life. It was not always an easy journey, including a stay in high care with severe sepsis, but my father eventually recovered and has been making slow and steady progress regaining his mobility and quality of life in a rehabilitation setting.
Regrettably I have spent a good amount of time in clinical settings and with physicians of various surgical specialties. It is of course not easy to find an excellent surgeon, more so one with good bedside manner, compassion for the patient and his family and lastly, humility. Dr Ramsamy possesses all of these qualities. I value his judgement and prudence extremely highly and have continued to ask his advice on my father’s health.
He will forever be in my gratitude and am sure he will continue to be very successful in his endeavors.
I was very impressed by the professional manner and procedure
I had my stent removed on the 17th of April and the procedure was as follows.
I went into the Doctors consulting room, where I had to remove my shoes, pants, and scants.
I lay on my back as instructed and rested my head on the pillow provided.
The doctor came in and briefly explained the procedure.
The first’ part is as follows.
A syringe filled with anaesthetic fluid with no needle is used to deaden the pain.
The end of the syringe is inserted a little way into your Penis.
Only when the liquid is dispersed do you feel pain for approx. 5 seconds.
It’s a strong burning pain but not too bad because the duration is very short.
The doctor waits approx. 2 min, you get to recoup.
Second part is as follows.
The doctor inserts a retriever into you to retrieve the stent.
You feel a strong burning pain for about 15 to 20 seconds.
Then suddenly, the pain stops, and the stent is out.
When I stood up to get dressed and go home,
I could feel the relief of the stent not being there.
My honest opinion is that it’s not that bad as the pain is only for a short period.
I was very impressed by the professional manner and procedure.
The first 3 times I urinated after the procedure the pain was intense it’s a burning pain at the end of
your penis.
However, the next morning I had no more pain just a slight discomfort.
